Bike Theft
Sadly bike theft is a big issue; arguably less so with recumbent bikes as they are less common; so easier to identify. Also many people don’t know how to ride them, meaning a thief may not be able to ride away easily on. But, theft is a real risk so please follow the recommendation of Hampshire Police and:
- “Double lock” your bike with “D” locks to something secure.
i.e. both wheels and the frame - Register your bike

Ride Safely
Be aware of what is happening around you and how poor other road users can be and how potholes and other hazards may affect you. Plan 10 seconds ahead; be super cautious around moving AND parked cars (watch out for doors being opened).
Obey the road rules; including the new updates encouraging you to stay away from edge of lane/gutter.
Be polite and patient
Wear the safety equipment you feel appropriate (helmets, elbow pads, high visibility clothing etc).
Use lights front and back (and side).
Use bike lanes and quiet streets where possible, less cars equals less risk
